People say the most challenging decision you'll have to face in life is deciding what you want to do with your life. Do you want to join a military service, spend your life under the sea, save lives, volunteer your time, or study the world and all of its people? I'm a freshman here, and I have already gone from wanting to be a SAR Diver for the Coast Guard to a Forensic Science and Psychology major then to pre-medicine and back, now I think I've finally settled on a Global Studies/pre-law major with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. I chose to settle upon this, well first because my mother wouldn't sign my consent forms to go to A school, and second because I realized finding the kind of career I wanted as a Psych major would probably not happen, and I didn't want to spend my life doing something I did not want to do. Plus, I find learning about different cultures and societies interesting; I believe that by learning about how others live it helps us to understand ourselves which allows us to grow and become better than we already are. I believe Global Studies can lead me down a variety of paths and with a law degree under my belt I am sure I will find something I enjoy doing.

I am taking GBL 250 because it is a requirement for my major, if I didn't have this major I honestly probably would have never taken this class. I'm hoping that by taking this class I can learn a lot about how different places in the world effect each other, and why it is important to have the connections in which each individual country has and how it effects the world as a whole. By traveling from state to state I have seen the different ways in which we live, they may be little differences, but they are still differences that tie that individual are together and somehow play a role in everyone's life, whether we know it or not.

I'm hoping i will come out with a better understanding of how we are all intertwined, how one person's individual culture and beliefs can effect that of another individual or and entire society. By taking this class I think i will be able to come to the final realization of whether or not this major is right for me.
