Christian Augustus

Christian Augustus was born in November of 1690 in Dornborg, Anhalt, Germany.  He succeeded to the throne  of Anhalt-Zerbst in 1746 and died in 1747.  He was a general in the Prussian army and at the time of Catherine's birth, he was a military commander at Stettin, Germany.  Her married [Johanna Elizabeth] of Holstein-Gottorp.
