Edward Braddock

An English General sent to the Colonies to fight the French And Indian War.  His first, last, and only plan was a broad assault against French holdings in Ohio, followed by the construction of several strategic fortresses.  His plan was a qualified success.  The northern push was successful, but everywhere else his army was repulsed.  Braddock himself walked into an ambush on his way to Fort Duquesne and was killed.
