Ghent

Ghent, Belgium, is the location of peace treaty pounded out by Americans and the British.  A peace was reached on December 24^th, 1814, but due to the slow communication of the day, word didn’t get back to the United States until 8 days after The Battle Of New Orleans.  The specifics of the treaty simply returned the official relations between the countries to what they were prior to the conflict.  It was ratified on February 17^th, 1815.
