Hannibal

Hannibal was a famous Carthaginian General who was the son of a hero from the city of Carthage- Hamilcar Barca.  Hannibal's father conqueored most of Spain and brought Carthage vast amounts of booty from his conquests.  Hannibal was taught his hatred of Rome as the need for revenge from the First Punic War from his father. 

Hannibal proved himself to be a better leader than his father, and has been considered to be a military genius.  Carthage realized this, and at the extremely young age of 25, Hannibal was given command of Carthaginian holdings in Spain.  He went on to win one decisive military victory after another in the Second Punic War but did not win the conflict as a whole due to lack of supplies and Rome's shrewd military planning as well.
