How This Relates To Our Class

I believe this relates to our class because in lecture we discussed people leaving their country and coming over to America to gain freedom from religious persecution.  The [Pilgrims] were doing just that.  They were breaking away from England to find a place where they could worship, pray, and believe what they wanted to, when they wanted to.  They came over to America because there was open land, "terra nullius".  This means no one's land.  They had it for the taking, and that's exactly what they did.  They colonized a place called [Plymouth Colony].
