Nicholas I

Born June 1, 1796, Nicholas I served as tsar of Russia from 1825-1855.  He also served as king of Poland during this period.  Nicholas spent a great part of his reign trying to quell revolution, and was in the Crimean War against Great Britain and [France] when he died in 1855.  He was seceeded by Alexander II.
