Globalization in the more specific sense of the spread of supraterritoriality has been less extensive than globalization in the more general sense of the growh of transplanetary connections. The supraterritorial aspects of contemporary globalization have far-reaching transformative potentials, but they constitute only part of the larger trend, and assessments of currently unfolding social change need to be correspondingly tempered.
